Right now countries across the world are concerned with the spreading of the virus.

Lets do this as a country. Not add to our debt. Take one or two billion dollars from the military budget and go and buy: ventilators, masks etc to equip the healthcare workers around the USA with a plenty supply of the best equipment available. To protect our highly trained medical staffs and help those that are healthy.

Right now the risk of war is very low and taking 0.002% of the defense budget is not going to change their ability to defend our country.

Right now it is like sending our soldiers to war and giving them knives and no helmets and asking them to win the war.....and the soldiers know they have a better chance to win the war and not die if we were using airplanes, missiles, machine guns and helmets.

Would you enlist today to be a doctor, nurse or healthcare worker today knowing that we are not doing everything possible to give you the best chance to have a positive outcome?

I heard this point made a couple weeks ago by someone. For all the money we spend on defense all it took was a virus to cripple our country. If we had just taken the amount we spend on one aircraft carrier and allocated it to defense against a pandemic we would be in a much better place as a country as we are now.

closing the borders , keeping illegals out can pay for alot of needs too...probably dig into fraud throughout the govt for some extra money..we spend probably 150 billions plus a year or so on the illegals issue.. maybe I'm wrong , it seems like the money isn't the problem getting medical supplies.. its just that we weren't prepared for something like this..we were behind the 8 ball so to speak. no one could have imagined we would need this many ventilators , masks ,etc. even the private sector is pitching in for medical supplies now..

it is not the federal govt's job to stock hospitals and people would be losing their minds if they knew their taxes would be used to fill up storage facilities with unused medical equipment that would likely be obsolete by the time it was useful against a pandemic. a cost of a hospital-grade adult ventilator approaches 50k so if you believe we should have a million of these ready "just in case" that's spending $50B on a product that will 99.99% of the time sit in a warehouse, never get used, and then be obsolete in 10 years when next-gen models are available

ventilators per hospital are not analogous to helmets per soldier. masks are, but mass storage of ventilators for a rainy day is like saying that every soldier needs their very own F-16

You think lack of money is the reason we're short on supplies right now? They're throwing every dollar they can print at this thing. Lack of will/finances isn't the issue.

That's why they're black swans, because we don' see em coming. Similar to 9/11 in a lot of ways...

We do that already. No? Lots of cops just sit around doing nothing all day and when they do get called to do their duty, they think they run shit and start violating rights. Or they’re doing shit all day but they plotting a way to fuck over somebody who pays their salaries.

You don’t need ventilators in the first place when you have a pandemic team and you believe in things like this happening in the first place. You have to first believe and understand that this is a real threat before anything.

Probably the first time you obeyed a cop that told you to stay home and do nothing.

I am talking about going forward. We cant change where we are at today. That is water under the bridge.

If New York thinks they are going to need them in the next 2 or 3 weeks. Build and buy the equipment now. No more dicking around with maybe GM wants to build these. Get them built and paid for. No more states bidding against the federal government or countries around the world. Federal government go and get them built and paid for.

The point is we dont ask our military to go to war without the best equipment .....why on god's green earth are we asking our healthcare workers to do that.

Second point is 2 billion less in the military would have zero effect on the military....not even with arguing this point. If we end up with extra masks and ventilators....small price to pay.

Are any of you guys even paying attention to the daily Presidential briefings on this subject?

A whole team of many competent people are working their asses off day and night to adapt private factories all around the country and world to produce ppe and ventilators. Like RT said, those ventilators are somewhere around 40 - 50 grans apiece. There is a good reason they are not stockpiled by the thousands. As RT said even if such a foolish waste of money were appropriated, they would likely be obsolete before they were ever needed. Governors and private hospitals could have their own stockpiles. No one did. The fact that it is a worldwide pandemic has put further stress on the supply. Throw in the fact that China undoubtedly made a lot of this stuff and you have a major lack of supply in black swan times (correct PF).

Hell, Cuomo was offered this stuff in 2015 and he declined it.

If you are paying attention you would see that the team assembled is doing everything possible to ramp up supply. As PF said, they just threw 2.2 trill at this. Money is clearly not the problem. Supply is. And before you blame this President, as he says "the shelves were bare when he took over".

Pay attention to the daily briefings. You'll learn a lot and you will be hard pressed to criticize. These people are smart. Their private sector partners are smart. And they are all working their ballinis off to solve this problem.

a few news outlets aren't even showing the pressors now.. the same outlets have figured out that the narrative they want out there doesn't match what Trump and Task Force are putting out there.. or in a few cases , some are ignoring it , brainwashed by the same liars on fake news networks

A true pandemic force has been neglected for decades. Hire a handful of smart people to do this. Our government fails on doing this for the mere fact they think it takes 2000 people to do what 20 can do.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has over 10,000 employees. Where are they in the front lines of this crisis?

Think about the name of this agency. I watch the President's daily briefings which have been going on daily for about two weeks. There are always different people around the podium with him talking about their input and role in fighting this pandemic and taking questions from the press. The Center for Disease Control WHICH SHOULD BE LEADING THE EFFORT has not been seen or represented since about day four.

10,000 people. Big paying jobs. Nothing to contribute to a problem that agency is squarely responsible for. The swamp is deep, wide, and dirty. A complete waste of taxpayer dollars.
